CERES preprint published on arXiv
The CERES preprint is on arXiv. It sets out how the system forecasts acute food insecurity, how every forecast is scored and how the public ledger keeps the record honest.

What the paper covers
«CERES: A Probabilistic Early Warning System for Acute Food Insecurity» describes the full pipeline: rainfall, vegetation, conflict, food access, prices and the current food security phase, read from open data and turned into the probability of a crisis 90 days ahead.
The method in the open
The paper also sets out the scoring method and the public ledger of forecasts. Every forecast is written down before the outcome is known and scored after. Publishing the method means researchers, agencies and funders can judge CERES on its record, not on its description.
The preprint was published in March 2026, the same month CERES began weekly forecasts in production.
