Research directions

This page describes where Northflow is going. Everything here is stated as direction, not as a service we offer today. It is deliberately kept apart from the proof surfaces so that ambition never gets mistaken for a capability claim.

EARTH OBSERVATION

The broadest active research area

Claimable today

PSE is operational and open source with six live connectors. OFW (deforestation, EUDR compliance) is in development and near release. The Sentinel adapter is in development.

Direction

Earth observation is the broadest active research area at Northflow, spanning wildfire risk, deforestation verification, marine and subsea monitoring, and infrastructure vulnerability mapping. These are directions, not services we offer today. The architecture (PSE for data fusion, HGE for hypothesis generation) is what makes the breadth tractable without rebuilding per domain.

ENERGY

From three live countries toward Europe

Claimable today

FLUX is operational with live country configurations for Indonesia, Kenya, and Vietnam. It is proprietary, built on open-source PSE. EFOS, the European energy grid flexibility and coordination concept, is at research stage.

Direction

European energy work is intent, tied to EFOS rather than to FLUX. EFOS is the European-facing concept and is where grid flexibility and coordination research sits; conflating it with FLUX would imply a European deployment that does not exist. FLUX today is Indonesia, Kenya, and Vietnam.

MARINE AND SUBSEA

MARVIS v2 and continued marine research

Claimable today

MARVIS v1 established a 5-layer Bayesian inference pipeline, hindcast against confirmed European subsea incidents with signed evidence bundles. It has been returned to development for v2. No prospective monitoring is claimed.

Direction

Marine and subsea monitoring remains an active research area feeding into the broader Earth observation programme. MARVIS v2 targets forward operational validation on a live corridor with a pilot partner: the evidence a future submission would need, gone out and earned rather than asserted in advance.

Institutional credibility requires transparency. Our validation methodology, data pipelines, and research outputs are publicly available and independently runnable. This is a commitment, not a claim, and it is backed by four artifacts anyone can open.
